I LOVE using the pottery that I have.
And it might sound vain, but, I LOVE using my pots. I fee like it sort of completes the process. The piece goes from mud to me eating off of it. And not only eating off of it, but the piece has the ability (maybe even the job) of ELEVATING the meal! How fantastically cool is that?
That's going to be my focus with the blog for a while. I've always felt that certain pieces have, unspoken, jobs. They can make a situation feel fancy, special, comforting, etc.
Previously, I have used this blog to post about weekly projects I would make for a year at a time: Year of the Teapot, Year of the Bowl, and Year of the Cup. I did pretty well with those, until making a completely new piece every week became unfeasible. Those projects helped me explore techniques and styles I wouldn't have tried otherwise.
I'm excited about this new focus and I hope you guys will all follow along. I don't know how often I'll post, but let's just see how this goes. :)
This particular pot just makes me feel good. When I use it, I taste the food I'm eating. I savor each bite. Whether I'm eating ramen noodles or the above dish (rice, with grilled red peppers, tomatoes, and onions, with a side of avocado and a sunny side up egg). I tend to slow down and appreciate the food I'm about to eat.
