Something Reallllly cool happened to these cups...they cracked! Now, that's not a sentence you hear a potter say very often, or ever! I threw these cups this morning, ran some errands, and came home to leather hard cups. Wayyy harder than expected. The cups had really dried out just during the few hours I was gone. I was surprised when I pressed from the inside, how soft the inside of the mug was in comparison with the outside. But this was the cool part, the inside was still soft enough for me to push, and the outside was hard enough to crack, but not too hard that it cracked all the way through! Just the "skin" of the cups cracked, that's whats so magical! My original plan was to just have all these bumps and dimples all over the mugs, but the cracks were just an added bonus. Now I'm going a totally different direction with glazing. I want to make more things like this: teapots, bowls, vases, ect! I am truly inspired!!! yaaayyy, this project is "doing it's job"! I think these will be so fun to hold.
