this cup was a magical blend of childhood inspiration, planning, and spontaneity!
i wanted to make a cup similar to my favorite "fancy" cup from my childhood. it had a thicker base and was divided with a 2/3 upper section and a 1/3 lower section. it was a taller style cappuccino glass mug.
i sketched out this design and started the mental planning. how much clay would i need, how to throw it, where to leave it a bit thicker fir the base and support so it didnt slump.
then, i was throwing, following my plans and something happened. the clay spoke to me. yes, it sounds silly. but if youve herd this, you know. its awesome. i started to listen and thats when the lines and petals started to form.
this is a special piece for me. it will be hard to sell, if i do. very sentimental: )
